A violin's wooden body is -on its own, beautiful, delicate,
sinuous and sleek. However, it is not until the tension of
strings is applied and the body is leveraged dangerously
taut that a violin becomes a luminous, coiled spring; wood
grain bright and rippling; fragile as though flesh and
blood; powerful and certain in reflex; A tiger in the
grass.
The photos are of several different instruments I made or
repaired in the shop of my father and with the Master's
generous help.
