Part toy, part limited edition art, these creatures are
handcrafted in the USA from salvaged toy material that is
disassembled, washed and sanitized, and reassembled with
100% new, hypoallergenic fill material.
**Due to the potential for small pieces, Stitches are not
intended for children of any age**
After years of faithful security service thousands of
stuffed toys found themselves cast aside and forgotten
until a freak electrical storm destroyed their warehouse
prison and freed them from their inanimation.
Unfortunately, these toys paid a heavy toll for their
freedom and the very electricity strikes that destroyed
their prison also plagued them with random mutations that
have jumbled their limbs and fur. Now they are back asStitches. Are they back for
revenge?-No. These desperate, misshapen little cuddlies
just long for a little TLC.
Stitches began as an exercise to identify under-utilized
materials in 2006 Midwestern America. As it turned out,
used, stuffed toys were in plentiful supply at regional
thrift stores and were rarely re-purchased for children,
probably due to fears of germs, and were eventually thrown
away or used (most commonly) as pet-toys. The result was an
abundance of quality materials representing a high level of
hand workmanship available in bulk at fractions of cents on
the original dollar.
The sentimentality of reviving all these forgotten teddy
bears appealed to me greatly. More than any other type of
toy, stuffed animals especially are held dear to us when we
are young - cherished as though real companions or members
of the family.
Stitches are available on a limited basis for $80 each
which includes one plush toy with collector's tag and a
handmade card numbered and signed by the artist. Please
